Cire Trudon's Rose Poivrée for Mother's Day

Giambattista Valli began his career in Rome,
where he worked with some of the most renowned designers.
In 1997 Valli relocated to Paris and in 2004
he launched his own fashion label and first shop.

Valli has been celebrated by the international fashion community
for creating feminine, romantic and dramatic dresses.

An aesthete at heart,
Giambattista Valli finds inspiration in the scents of Cire Trudon
and in 2010 he approached Cire Trudon to create a signature candle,
Rose Poivrée, which was originally sold exclusively at his Paris boutique.

With the head notes of  Lily of the Valley, Madagascan Pepper and Tangerine,
the bouquet of fresh and lush Rose, Palmarose and Amber as the heart notes
evokes Marie Antoinette’s love of the flower.
Finishing with Sandalwood and Musk, this limited edition Rose Poivrée,
now available at Serin Cini, truly makes  the perfect Mother's Day gift.

Cire Trudon's Latest release … Positano

Perched above the Amalfi coast,
the small village of Positano shines brightly under the Italian sun.
White flowers bloom and gardenia, orange blossom, jasmine, magnolia,
tuberose and lily combine in a delicate melody.

Created by Cire Trudon in partnership with designer Giambattista Valli
this limited edition candle was inspired by the designer’s
love of the scents of picturesque Positano.

The head  notes are Neroli, Gardenia and Bergamot.
The heart notes are Orange Blossom, Jasmine and Magnolia,
finishing with base notes of Tuberose, Peruvian Balsam and Lily.

The Face of Fornasetti

For Piero Fornasetti,
a single idea provided enough inspiration to create infinite variations.
In fact, much of his work involved constant evolutions of specific themes.
By allowing his imagination to roam freely,
Fornasetti was able to constantly reinvent or reinterpret an image.

The most famous recurring theme
is the enigmatic face of a woman: the opera singer Lina Cavalieri.

He found that now iconic face as he leafed through a 19th century French magazine
and became fascinated.

Taking her as much as a muse and as a motif,
he would return to Lina Cavalieri’s face again and again throughout his career.

The archetypal classic female features and enigmatic expression of Lina Cavalieri
became Fornasetti’s most frequently used template
and upon which he based more than 350 variations.

Lina Cavalieri’s face, explained Piero Fornasetti, was another archetype –
a quintessentially beautiful and classic image, like a Greek statue,
enigmatic like the ‘Gioconda’ and therefore able to take shape
into the idea that was slowly building in his mind.

It was this formal, graphic appeal (rather than Lina Cavalieri’s celebrity)
that demanded such loyalty and inspired
the spontaneous and ceaseless creativity of Fornasetti.

For him, this face became the ultimate enduring motif.
With great modesty all these works were reproduced
on a series of everyday objects like the plate.

Piero Fornasetti

Piero Fornasetti was a Milanese painter, sculptor, interior decorator,
engraver of books and a creator of more than 13,000 products.
In terms of variety of decoration, Fornasetti’s production of objects and furniture
is one of the largest of the 20th century.

Fornasetti is celebrated as being among the most original creative talents
of the twentieth century.
During his career he created a visual vocabulary
that is instantly recognisable and unceasingly engaging.

Fornasetti designed a magical world,
saturated in image and colour and filled with whimsy and wit.

Marie Daage - Par Coeur

Originally created for the London-based designer Nina Campbell,
the heart is displayed on a generously coloured background.
A gold trim adds a refined and elegant note to this design -
a play of contrasts reminiscent of pop art.

Marie Daage - Made By Hand

Fascinated by colour, Marie Daage creates new colors intuitively.

Marie's creative process involves interpreting the feelings
she experiences when working with colours.
Based on these feelings, Marie composes her colour palette.
Hours are spent mixing pigments to achieve just the right hue.
All colours are hand mixed.

With colours that define her style,
even exuberant tones are subtle and natural looking.

Marie Daage… A Cultural Commitment

Marie Daage heads the company that bears her name and creates
beautiful hand painted porcelain in Limoges, France.
Marie believes that the image and style of French goods
goes hand in hand with where they are made.
She also believes that clients love to purchase items
that have meaning or a story behind them.
And, when goods are partially fabricated off-shore
the unique qualities inherent to the region or country, are lost.

An advocate for preserving family business and traditional craftsmanship,
Marie Daage supports Development Durable –
a French initiative for sustainable production of goods made by families
who have learned their trades and traditions over generations.

Marie truely believes in the importance of sustaining the trades
and the positive impact these traditions have on the social environment
as well as the economy.
In recognition for her efforts to preserve a national heritage,
she was awarded the Legion of Honor in 2012.

Marie Daage - Porcelain from Limoges, France.

"La Haute Couture De La Table"

For 25 years Marie Daage has continued the traditions of her trade-
handpainted porcelain from Limoges, France,
with a savoir-faire about luxury that is uniquely French.
One of the first modern designers to combine contrasting designs and colors
within a table setting, Marie’s fusion of pattern and color unify her signature style –
a melding of stripes, florals and figurative scenes.
Humorous and quirky, or subtle and sumptuous,
her designs evoke the art and style of French living,
richly conveyed by the fluidity and translucence of hand painting.

Cire Trudon - Marie Antoinette

Cire Trudon is the world's oldest candle manufacturer, appointed supplier to the
Royal Court of France and later to the Imperial court under Napoleon.
With this rich history in mind, Maison Cire Trudon asked
the Reunion des Musees Nationaux-Grand Palais to grant them the rights
to reproduce in wax some "jewels" from its Molding Workshop.

And so we have this portrait of Marie-Antoinette
(attributed to Brachard), finished to exacting standards and able to be used as a candle,
although most are kept as collectables rather than consumed.

As one of the most famous and controversial women in French History,
Marie-Antoinette was the object of many artistic representations.
Many valuable artworks were destroyed and  disappeared during the French Revolution. Fortunately, this bust has survived the upheavals of time.
